Are you an apple or a pear shape pregnancy?
It seems that women who carry excess abdominal weight (apple shaped) can be less fertile than women whose excess weight is distributed around their hips and bottom (pear shaped). The reasons for this are not totally understood, but one Dutch study has shown that there is a clear link between women’s body shapes and conception rates.
When was your last smear test pregnancy?
It is really important that you have a smear test regularly and certainly before you start trying to get pregnant. If a test shows that there are precancerous cell changes, and you are already pregnant, you need to be monitored carefully and will have to wait until after you have had your baby before you can be treated. The NHS screens women every three years, but increasingly women are choosing to have annual smear tests done privately.
