Autumn Soak Homemade

A good antifungal and relaxing foot soak that needs to be made in the autumn as the black walnuts fall from the tree and the mugwort is in flower. This vinegar also makes an excellent hair rinse for dark hair.

Equal amounts fresh black walnut hulls and fresh flowering mugwort tops and vinegar Using herbs and vinegar, follow Directions for Herbal-infused Vinegars with Fresh Herbs. Use the outer green hull of the black walnut; make sure to use gloves when handling them, as they can stain your hands. Add 1/2 cup of vinegar per foot soak.

Variation: If you don’t have black walnuts in your neighborhood or it’s not autumn you can make the recipe with dried herbs; it just won’t be as potent. If the herbs are dried: Use 2 oz. of dried black walnut hulls, 2 oz. of dried mugwort and 18 oz. of vinegar and follow Directions for Herbal-In-fused Vinegars with Dried Herbs. Add 1/2 cup of vinegar per foot soak. Makes about 14 oz. of herbal-infused vinegar.
