Sun-protection products should be discarded after one year, because their active ingredients will begin to lose their protective powers. Remember to apply an ample amount for full protection and don’t forget your lips and under your eyes—two spots on the body where skin is extremely thin and more prone to burning.
Wear a hat and sunglasses whenever you are out in the sun: I never go outside in the summer without my baseball cap and shades.
Before washing your face in the evening, I recommend using a nonoily formula of eye makeup remover on a clean cotton pad to wipe away mascara, liner, and shadow. Nonoily removers (i.e., gel or liquid formulas) are important for several reasons. Oily removers can aggravate eyes. They can also can cause makeup to travel over your face so that it becomes very difficult to wash off. (If you wake up in the morning with mascara smeared on your face, oily eye makeup remover may be at fault.) Also, by using a nonoily remover, you have the option of reapplying makeup should you plan to go out later on; makeup will not take over an oil formula remover.
