From present shopping to glamming up for New Year’s Eve, Michelle Keegan, 28, tells us how she and hubby Mark Wright get into the Christmas spirit
The Christmas markets in Manchester never fail to get me in
the festive mood! Mark and I go along and I’ll have an eggnog latte just because it’s Christmas.
Every year I say I’m going to rein it in on presents, but
I always splash out on my family, I can’t help it! Mark’s just as bad last year he bought us matching Cartier watches.
I love Christmas Eve more then New Year’s Eve – I just love the build up. My mum is doing a massive Christmas Eve party, which will be good. Bailey’s on ice is my favourite festive tipple.
I’d be miffed if I didn’t get a stocking. My dad makes me one every year – the best bit is the tangerine at the bottom.
I have two sides of the family in Manchester, so Christmas Day is beyond hectic. We’ll wake up at my mum’s, open presents in our pyjamas and have breakfast, then shoot off to my dad’s for Christmas dinner and more presents, then go back to my Mum’s for Christmas night, then down to Essex on Boxing Day. It’s non-stop.
I really enjoy cooking but I’ve never cooked on Christmas Day.
My Boxing Day speciality is a bubble and squeak pancake.
I basically throw everything in a pan and ta-dah!
I like going a little glam, but comfort is key on Christmas Day.
Last year, I wore a skirt with a jumper and over-the-knee boots -it was a look I loved on Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, so I copied her!
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without all the cheesy songs. And I love that I can eat chocolate for breakfast!
We’ll be going to a house party for New Year’s Eve, and I’ll be getting all glammed up in one of my party dresses. I’ll save time by washing my hair the night before. I’ll use a treatment like Unite Leave-In Conditioner or Moroccan Oil-Oil Treatment, then just shove it up and go to sleep. That way, before I go out, it just needs a bit of backcombing. I’m obsessed with Tom Ford Private.
