To help guard against breakage and to keep more moisture in your hair, sleep with a satin headscarf or head covering on. This will keep the moisturizers you put in your hair from being absorbed by your pillow. It also eliminates the problem of friction from your head rubbing on the pillow, which can cause hair to break or even cause baldness in affected areas. You can also choose to use satin pillowcases and sheets if you find it difficult to sleep with your head covered.
Next, you need to start doing things to increase the growth (anagen) phase of your hair. A great way to do this is by taking a good multivitamin and eating healthily.
Address any specific hair problems you have and work out a plan that will help you resolve those problems, whether it be weak hair strands, dryness, breakage or slow growth. Experiment with products that are made to remedy the problems you have. Don’t be afraid to move on to a different product if the one you tried does not do what you need it to do.
