Curls don’t come in a bottle. To be effective for your hair, a product must be formulated to address your hair’s needs. Natural hair requires lots of moisture, so be diligent about using products on your hair that specifically claim to moisturize.

Use shampoos that do not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfates. This is a harsh lathering detergent and surfactant that is very drying to natural hair. There are many natural shampoos that don’t contain any sulfates.
There are also a lot of “No-Poo” shampoos that work well. I personally prefer the co-wash method which is cleansing the hair using regular conditioner.
Try to refrain from using products containing petroleum, mineral oils, and alcohol. They do not aid in maintaining and preserving the moisture of the hair. Essential oils can be good for the scalp and hair.
To start you need a shampoo, conditioner, hair oil, leave in conditioner and whatever styling products needed for your specific style. Please note my recommended product list.
