Over the past decade, the New Delhi based duo behind Klove Studio has made an indelible mark on the Indian design industry with their larger than life hand blown glass creations. Their notable works this year include the majestic Swarovski crystal embedded wedding gazebo called Mandapam, the Tree of Life akin to an inverted plant with perched birds and the extensive Mid Century Modern series inspired by Le Corbusier’s Chandigarh. Their creative genius is reflected in the sheer scale, diversity and execution of each piece, conveying a riveting story.

It also served as an ice-breaker for the women in my prenatal class, as some of them became my chauffeurs, with their own schedule of who was driving me where and when, as I also had to have blood taken every three days at the hospital (to cross match in case I needed a blood transfusion). The final step is making a list of what you want to accomplish before your baby arrives. A good first start is to think about your baby’s birth and developing a birth plan. Even if you don’t think you are going to be spending your pregnancy in hospital, I would recommend reading Chapter 20 where I explain how a birth plan for high-risk pregnancy is different from our low-risk counterparts. There is also an exercise on items to include in your birth plan. Is there a photo book you want to complete? A book series you’ve always wanted to read? A hobby you want to take up or master ” such as knitting, painting, or jewelry making? Daycare applications you want to fill out? Summer camps or extracurricular activities you want to register your children for? It’s a good idea to list what interests you and think about how you can advance those interests from your bed. Also, are there activities you can safely do from your bed or couch? There can be great satisfaction in working on a hobby or project you can grow and develop, much like the baby incubating inside you. I know one mom who not only learned how to knit, but ended up knitting baby hats for all of her friends on her floor in the hospital. She said the baby hats not only took less time to make than larger projects, such as a blanket, but she also had the gratification of handing out the hats to her friends to help them focus on the babies they were growing. If crafts don’t interest you, and you’re say, a marathon runner, you can research running tips, set up a post-pregnancy nutrition program, or investigate marathons you’d like to eventually run.
