The randomness of the interval is up to you, but the key is to introduce chaos into your workout. If you put your first marker down after 45 seconds, put the second one down at 90 seconds, and the third one down at 55 seconds. And to simulate the fact that a golf course sometimes hides the finish line, place your sticks after a long turn, or maybe bury one of the sticks a little deeper in the ground so you don’t see it until you are right up on it. In order to simulate the recovery from a hole to the next tee, you can jog/walk for 15 to 20 seconds past the marker and then turn around. When you reach your marker, take off again. Or, you could take the complexity up a notch and mark the stop point of one hole and the start point of the next tee. Whatever you do, clean up after yourself. Pack out what you pack in. Don’t leave that once-pristine trail full of brightly colored sticks. The Landmark Workout.
