A facial hot pack offers an excellent way to deeply clean and tone the skin, clearing away dead cells and debris by opening the pores and increasing circulation. A hot pack is one of the best treatments to use for skin affected by pimpling or acne, especially when antimicrobial herbs such as thyme and echinacea are used. This treatment can be done 3 times a week for oily and acne-prone skin. It is most effective to follow up with an appropriate mask or scrub to continue the deep-pore cleansing process. See directions for Facial Hot Packs on 7.
You might try an infusion of one of the formulas listed in the Facial Steam section of chapter 1, such as Sweet Fern Citrus Blend, or the Blemish Beautifier Blend found in the section that follows. The formulas given here are also excellent selections.
Pimple Away Pack /Acne
32 oz. water 3 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops tea tree essential oil
Follow directions for Facial Hot Pack on 7 and drip the essential oils into the water right before applying the pack. Note that the essential oils evaporate quickly, so you may need to add a few more drops of essential oil to the water in the middle of the treatment.
Variation: Replace the tea tree oil with 2 drops of sage essential oil and the lavender with 2 drops of chamomile essential oil.
