AFTER WHAT I DID LAST NIGHT
Self-released ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚
Honky tonks, heartbreaks, home life – he’s done (and sung) it all. Brilliantly
Born and bred in Australia, bitten by the country music bug, Henry Wagons chose to make AFTER WHAT I DID LAST NIGHT in Music City – promptly falling in love with all life has to offer in Nashville, Tennessee.
Soaking up the sounds ofthe town and letting each distinct location add its own flavour to his own tastes and influences, Wagons recruited some of Americana’s brightest talent to help him create a true rocking roots album you can’t help but enjoy.
Already a respected and well-versed performer Down Under, Wagons is now carving himself a name on the international music scene, sharing his new release and undeniable talent with the world. This album is one of caramel vocals, no frills lyrics and slick musicianship.
Old-school country meets rhythm & blues in King Hit, which offers a nice little twist in the final verse. We also hear a softer, sweeter side of Wagons’ writing in As Long As I Breathe and Only Child. Meanwhile,
Head Or Heart is a brief insight to the inner battle of boy who meets a pretty girl… when his pretty girl is back at home. There’s also Anything You Want; a cheerful song about everything a man will do – or will ‘die tryin’ to get’ when he finds the right woman.
The album does pick up a bit with tracks like Tomboy and Only Sane Mother F*****, before Wagons heads back home in Melbourne.
A pleasure to listen to and a good showcase of this artist’s talent. Amy Jones www.wagonsmusic.com
