A warming bath for increasing circulation and counteracting chilled bones and muscles.
6 oz. fresh ginger root
1 gallon boiling water
Grate the ginger root, place in a gallon jar, pour water into the jar and let steep for a minimum of 1 hour. Strain and add the liquid to the bathwater. Set aside a cup of the infusion and sip some as you bathe. Ginger tea warms your insides and stimulates circulation and metabolic activity. Makes enough for 1 bath.
Variation: Substitute 2 oz. of dried powder ginger root for the fresh root, although the resulting bath may not be as potent.

Kenyan womens have a different way of looking at things, he says. Instead of no pain, no gain, it’s, Y ou have to work hard, but not against your body. Y ou have to work with it. (Larkin 2009c)Wear a hat and sunglasses on a scalding track where there’s no shade. Bring a cooler full of ice water and dip your hat in the cool water during your recovery period. Put the hat back on just as you are about ready to start out on your next repetition. Bring a special treat to your workout. For a hot day’s workout, it could be something like a little piece of candy (a candied orange slice, in my case), or a towel that you will wet, or a bag of ice that you will put on your head. At the end of the repeat, reward yourself accordingly. Think about your little reward as you spin around the track.
