“For Your Eyes Only”
Use these dried herbs: 1 part eye bright, 1 part chickweed, 1 part calendula, 1 part lavender, 1 part goldenseal leaf Herbs can be measured either by weight, tablespoon or cup depending on how much you want to make.
Combine herbs and make a strong infusion using 1 large handful of herbs (1 oz.) and 16 oz. water, and let steep for 3 hours. You can make more or less infusions as needed. Be sure to strain infusion through a tightly woven cloth. Apply to eyes with eye dropper or eye cup, along with drinking it. Store unused portion in the refrigerator and use up within 2-3 days. Makes about 13 oz.
To use tea bag method, coarsely grind herbs together and put them in tea bags. Place two tea bags in a cup and cover with very hot water. Place a saucer on top of the cup to prevent the evaporation of the herb’s volatile oils. Let tea bags cool to body temperature. Lie down in a comfortable place with a towel under your head and apply a tea bag to each closed eye. Leave on at least 20 minutes, allowing the herbal juices to seep into the eyes. Repeat as needed. Makes enough for 1 treatment.
